5/20 - Midnight Borscht Ride - Fold your own Pierogi!

8PM-1AM
Veselka
144 2nd Avenue
New York, NY

We're expanding the international flavor of #BromptonNYC to include the East Village Ukrainian staple Veselka (which means "Rainbow" by the way)!!

Tom, Veselka's owner and a Brompton rider, is generously offering a discounted menu to #BromptonNYC and so we'll have extra reason to enjoy their legendary food and service! This is the first big event of the #BromptonNYC season and truly opens the summer riding season. We'll discuss upcoming events, meet and greet friends old and new, and party it up Brompton style on the bike lanes and at one of NYC's culinary gems!

Here's a schedule for the day:

8PM - Optional Ride
MEET AT BROMPTON CAFE IN WILLIAMSBURG.
We'll start with a moderately paced ride from the Brompton cafe in Williamsburg, ride though the Brooklyn waterfront to the Navy Yards, turn South along Vanderbilt towards Prospect Park, do 1 or 2 laps of the park depending on time, head back along Vanderbilt and Flushing to Dumbo, cross the Manhattan Bridge, ride South on the East River Greenway, turn North to follow the Hudson River, enter the West Village at Christopher Street, ride east, and finally end up at our destination - Veselka!

11:15 - We arrive at Veselka, meet anyone who couldn't make the group ride, fold up, take our seats outside along 2nd ave and get settled. Veselka is generously offering a discounted menu to Brompton riders and so we'll have extra reason to enjoy their legendary food and service!

At Midnight we'll feast on Borscht, Pierogi, fine Ukrainian beers, and more! Did I mention a, "How to fold a Pierogi" lesson from Veselka's master makers? No? Well we are still sorring out details but if all goes well we'll have a chance put our folding skills to the test and craft our very own Brompt-rogi! The only question is - what should we fill them with???

Join us for a fun ride and a good old time!

Special thanks to Veselka for all they've done to make this night a reality!

8/1, 8/8, 8/15 (Saturdays) – Summer Streets 2015

Summer Streets is an annual celebration of New York City’s most valuable public space—our streets. On three consecutive Saturdays in August, nearly seven miles of NYC's streets are opened for people to play, run, walk and bike. Summer Streets provides space for healthy recreation and encourages New Yorkers to use more sustainable forms of transportation. In 2014, more than 300,000 people took advantage of the open streets.

Summer Streets extends from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park, along Park Avenue and connecting streets, with easy access from all points in New York City, allowing participants to plan a trip as long or short as they wish.  You can water slide, soar through the air on a zip line, dance, get fit, immerse yourself in a public art and architecture tours or just stroll along and experience the city's streets in a new way.  All activities are FREE, and designed for people of all ages and ability levels to share the streets respectfully.
